Introducing the Anti-Mark

By insanity | July 2, 2008

Hi all.

So, introductions first.  I am the Anti-Mark.  My name, specifically, is not Mark, I don’t work for any enterprise businesses, I find Microsoft’s business tactics to be more offensive than it’s software, and I never feel more safe and at home than when I’m tweaking my Ubuntu Hardy install to try and do something like useful like say… oh I don’t know… boot up into X after upgrading my kernel…

In terms of education and such, I am an engineer in training at the moment, finishing a 5 year course in Robotics & Software engineering in Melbourne, Victoria.  I have had some good industry experience (2 years full time) so far working for 2 companies, delving into both hardware and software systems.

I tend to fall on the Open Source Software side of the fence, because I am a poor student and value my money more than my time (hence running Ubuntu!).  My primary purpose here is to contradict everything Mark says and cloud all issues raised :) .  So hopefully, this will make for an entertaining read and lively discussion if nothing else.

This is actually my first blog post ever, so it is certainly worth printing off a copy, sending it to the site owner along with a self-addressed envelope, and getting it signed and returned (yes, I will do all that)… just think how much it will be worth when I end up rich and famous!

Bah Humbug to you, just because I’d rather be productive than having to re-compile my kernel every time I want to look at lolcats

I’ve reinstalled windows (20+?) more frequently than I’ve recompiled kernels (about 5… for experimental purposes)… and compiling a kernel takes only about 30mins start to finish… =D
